Our Mission
We believe the 80 billion resalable items that hit landfills each year shouldn’t. We also understand processing these items is an operational nightmare. To bridge this gap, we’ve built a suite of solutions specially designed for the resale e-commerce industry.
In 2020 in the US alone, over 33 million people bought second-hand apparel for the first time. The resale market is projected to double its value in the next 5 years, reaching $77 billion. To meet consumer demands, the need for technology and innovation across this industry is greater than ever.
Tackling the industry's biggest operational challenges, HAMMOQ has developed machine vision and AI automated workflows enabling the photographing and online listing of resale items at a speed (and on a scale) never before possible.
We imagine a future of used goods sustainability, where landfills are only for trash, and resale operations are empowered to list more and sell more.
Resale is key to mitigating a serious ecological problem
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. With 16% of all global greenhouse gas emissions, it produces more pollution than international flights and shipping combined. The United States alone throws away an estimated 26 billion pounds of clothing each year.
We believe facilitating rapid expansion and growth within the resale industry will play an essential role in driving global change. Resale keeps usable secondhand garments from hitting US landfills, as well as traveling overseas to places like Ghana and Chile, where secondhand clothing from the United States plays a destabilizing role in local economies and has devastating environmental consequences.
